George, this app is still extremely valid and valuable for those of us who are still using pre-mid-2011 Macs. My household has two Mac Pros and one MacBook, all three of which were built prior to the Mountain Lion supported AirPlay Mirroring feature.

From Apple’s own web-site regarding Mountain Lion requirements:
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).

Any machine built prior to those specs are not supported by Mountain Lion’s AirPlay Mirroring functionality. As a result, AirParrot is still a very valid app in the marketplace for the rest of us who are happy with our current Macs.
