In reply to WestN. No problems with Plex Media Server cpu usage; 1500+ movies, 150 + Full TV Shows, many upwards of 10 Seasons. Must have plenty of storage for the meta data which gets large very quickly!

Does the computer you install the workaround on have to be running to access the PlexConnect? I am running my Plex Server off my Diskstation 1515+ NAS and I am not sure if this will work on a NAS…Definitely not running Terminal off the NAS as the DSM software is pretty limited and I DEFINITELY don’t have the skills to be hacking into that.

Any suggestions? Has anyone successfully gotten PlexConnect to work with a NAS as the host?

In reply to gman13579. For the new builds, do not edit Settings.py directly. Edit Settings.cfg and let Settings.py read your info from there. The cfg file contains no quotes, so it dodges this issue.

In reply to kat. There are notes in ../assets/certificates/certificates.txt as to what to do about this, to put matching keys in the server and on the appleTV. But they are cryptic. Can someone step-by-step them out for the non-Mac-savvy?

In reply to gman13579. TextEdit changed one of your quotes to a fancy directional quote. Try to use a different text editor, either XCode or vi, or cut and paste the quotes back from elsewhere in the file.

Super pumped to try this out. When setting the DNS (ip) in Apple TV settings, can you specify a Plex server that is outside your local network?
