As long as long as its called “Apple iTV” its not a problem, like an “iPod Touch” is commonly referred to as an “iTouch”, Americans will just refer to it as an iTV.

TV’s are low margin bulky difficult to move and come in all sizes. Now I begrudge paying Apple £1,000 for £400 of hardware but I have. There are only a limited number of people who will pay over £1,000 for a TV before the price drops through the floor (see 3D TVs) and offering discounts after 6 months of sales in not in Apples business model.

Personally I think, as Apple make a lot money from Apps, and the more people who own a device then the more Apps sold, the way forward is to have an AppleTV2 which runs Apps and links in to all the other iProducts.

I think you’ll find that ITV (Independent Television) is well established and was so long before Apple was a twinkle in Steve Job’s eye. A UK TV company originally launched in 1955. A quick search for ITV should clear it up….

Am I the only one who remembers when Apple wanted to name the Apple TV the iTV and a subscription service in the UK (I believe) threatened a lawsuit for infringing on their name. So, in short, it can not be called the iTV because they’ve tried before with the Apple TV. Enough with all the bs rumors already.
