I would recommend PureVPN free smartDNS service.

I personally prefer UnoTelly. It’s similar to Smart DNS Proxy but they offer a DNS server close to physical location and I can achieve better performance.

A DNS is kind of weird really, in very simplistic terms it is essentially a database of hostname to ip translations. You send a hostname, and it redirects you to an ip address. Some DNS servers may have very outdated relational databases. My best guess is that a DNS that is ‘blocking’ access to a certain site is really not allowed to access the destination ip address based on its physical location, so you aren’t either. Find a DNS server that is allowed to redirect to that ip, and you can gain access. A cool thing about a DNS is they are easy to setup and customize. This allows you to change the destination of certain hostnames yourself.

I always thought this was based exclusivey on IP-address (which presumably won’t change when just using a different DNS server). What is a service also uses IP-based region detection?
