Thanks for this post. I spent all day yesterday trying to setup a “once working” ATV with connectivity issues.

The damn thing had my head spinning because you could go through the process (entering in emails and wifi SSID’s and passwords is fun with the remote ;(!)…! and nothing would work…then 10 minutes later BINGO – we’re all systems go.

Then it would drop again. Tried restoring from iTunes – sometimes it would show in the Devices list, sometimes it wouldn’t. Finally did a full restore (4 hour download), tried to use Apple Configurator but that decided that there wasn’t an iOS on the ATV so it did another 4 hour download

Hmmm, my Apple TV3 satisfies both the serial number requirements. My units serial number ends in DRHN and the 4rd and 5th letters are ‘HC’. I don’t use it very much, so now I’m trying to recall whether I’ve had wifi related issues with it in the past.
